Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Chimney Cleaning Before & After in Miami, FL

Stage 3 Creosote Removal in a Coral Gables Fireplace
Before
After
Before
AfterThe homeowner lit a fire and smelled a campfire in the upstairs bedrooms for two days, which usually means one thing: airflow is backing up. Our camera inspection showed glazed, tarry creosote stuck to the flue from years of burning unseasoned wood in Miami’s humidity. We ran rotary cleaning rods to break the glaze off, swept the full system, and left the firebox clean enough to eat off. The draft returned, the smell disappeared, and the inspection report showed clear flue walls before we pulled out of the driveway.
Soot and Palm Debris Blockage in a Coconut Grove Wood-Burning Fireplace
Before
After
Coconut Grove’s oak canopy drops leaves year-round, and palms shed fronds that fit through chimney crowns with a missing rain cap. The damper was half-blocked, so smoke rolled into the living room every time the fire got going. We pulled two contractor bags of compacted debris out of the flue, swept the smoke chamber, and recommended a proper cap to keep it from happening again. The fireplace now draws like it should, even on muggy Southeast Florida nights.
Damper Corrosion and Soot Buildup in a Kendall Gas Fireplace Conversion

Miami’s salt air and summer humidity work on metal parts like nowhere else. This Kendall homeowner converted to gas years ago but the old cast-iron damper stayed in place, rusting and catching soot that fell from the flue. We cleaned the damper seat, removed the corrosion scale, and ran a full inspection to confirm the unit was safe to operate. The damper now opens and closes with one hand, and there’s no more fine black dust settling on the hearth.
Animal Nest and Debris Removal in a Pinecrest Chimney

A homeowner in Pinecrest called because they could hear scratching in the flue and the fireplace had a stale, musty smell. We found a full bird nest wedged about 14 feet down, plus twigs, feathers, and a layer of guano coating the flue tiles. Our crew removed everything, swept and sanitized the flue, and installed a stainless steel cap with a mesh screen so the birds couldn’t get back in. No more scratching, no more smell, and the fireplace is safe to use again.
Heavy Soot Buildup from a Neglected Wood Stove in Homestead

Homestead gets cold enough in January that wood stoves earn their keep, and this one had gone three seasons without a cleaning. The stovepipe had a quarter-inch of packed soot, and the connector was starting to choke off the draft. We swept the full system, inspected the seams and joints, and confirmed the stove was safe for another season. The homeowner told us the stove burns cleaner and hotter now, and the smoke no longer puffs back when they open the door.
Smoke Chamber Deep Clean in an Older Brick Fireplace in Hialeah

Older brick fireplaces in Hialeah have shallow smoke chambers with corbelled walls that catch soot like a filter. This one was so packed that smoke spilled into the room whenever the fire got above a low burn. We scraped the chamber walls, vacuumed every crevice, and confirmed the chimney was drafting well at every damper position. The homeowner said it was the first time in years they could enjoy a full fire without opening a window.
